What to Expect During Your First Visit

Patients should expect to meet with multiple members of our dedicated team including Medical Assistants, Physician Assistants, Certified Oncology nurses, and Board Certified Oncology Physicians. Expect the first visit to run at least 2-3 hours due to interaction with multiple members of our team.

You will sign in for your appointment at the reception area, where a member of your care team will check you in for your appointment, complete applicable forms, and verify demographic and insurance information.

Our Medical Assistants will take your height, weight, blood pressure, and a blood draw. Once placed in an examination room, you may be assessed by several members of your care team. Treating the Whole Person - Not Just Their Illness

Beyond medical treatment, HOAB offers one-on-one and group counseling for patients and families to help them deal with the psychological issues inherent with a cancer diagnosis. Alternative therapies are also available at our facility to promote relaxation and minimize treatment side effects.

Financial Assistance for Those Who Need it Most

Financial issues are an important aspect of cancer treatment- but they shouldn't prevent a person from getting the care they need. HOAB's staff works extensively with insurance companies, drug manufacturers, and charitable organizations in order to help uninsured and struggling patients obtain treatment and medications that would otherwise be unaffordable.

Talking with Patient

HOAB:

"Helping Others Above and Beyond"

Is it possible to provide compassionate, personalized care while being at the forefront of hematology/oncology medicine? At Hematology Oncology Associates of Brooklyn, the answer is a resounding "yes."

With decades of collective experience caring for cancer patients and their families, we understand the anxiety an individual can feel when they come in for testing or treatment. That's why we go that extra mile to make patients feel as comfortable as possible, whether it's their first visit - or their tenth.

Our Singular Approach to Patient Care

HOAB's physicians, nurses, and staff devote an uncommon amount of time and energy to addressing the emotional and practical issues experienced by our patients.

From the moment they arrive, patients know our practice is different. Maybe it's our friendly receptionists, who greet everyone with a warm smile. Or our accessible physicians, who routinely stop by to chat with patients during their chemotherapy sessions. Then again, it could be our vibrant and cheerful nurses, who excel at making people feel relaxed and at ease at every step of their visit.

Our providers are uniquely gifted as sensitive and motivated caregivers, resulting in a level of personal attention and comfort found nowhere else. The phrase "too busy" is not part of our vocabulary. Our physicians and nurses are always available for patients, whether it's to provide information or just a comforting word.
